Read this recently, morningmail.org/dick-smith-foods-reject-halal/I would have thought that Australia would have been the last country in the world to submit to this blackmail. I was wrong, but its still not to late to prevent its spreading.

Us dunkum Ozzies have our tolerence limits too and some people from other lands do not inderstand our understated depth of feeling for our liberties.

Surely the only people who need to know if a product is halal are Muslims. Is there significant benefit to customers and shareholders of a company that it's able to assure Muslim customers of its compliance with their laws?
Wouldn't it make more sense if Muslims contacted the company directly through their website to ascertain if the product is halal? If they don't trust the companies to tell the truth then they can set up their own. If that's not feasible I'm sure a company would allow inspection from a group of Islamic clerics to ensure them that production processes are halal.
Why should a company send $27,000 a month to Indonesia for this certification? It sounds like a racket to me.

What an annoying religion Islam is, they are adamant that their God will look after them, but the extremists want to kill non Islamic people and probably some of their own. A decapitating event was on the news again today and they sought maximum news coverage.
Surely one thing an all powerful God should be able to do is "kill off anyone" he chooses. What makes these idiot terrorists think they have to KILL disbelievers for their God, their God does not need help with life or death.
It makes as much sense as a wolf howling at the Moon.
The history of the world should tell them that the more heads they cut off the less is the chance of the world bowing down to them - and their God might not be pleased with their stupid and outragious behaviour. (if there is a God he will be pissed off with someone killing off his creations) (kicking his sand castles down.)
It is the silliest game of "Simon said" I have ever heard of.

There's an interesting article in this week's Spectator suggesting that ISIL is largely about money-making. Some of the comments following the article say this is simplistic. The comments are interesting, too. This form of Islam is very, very primitive, but it's true that, in its origins and at its heart Islam is a primitive religion. The best Muslims take the best bits and focus on them. The worst take the worst bits and act accordingly. There are plenty of decent Muslims around, but most of the clergy seem reluctant to seriously examine and evaluate the medieval teachings derived from the Qur'an and the Hadiths, so most Islam is stuck in the mindset of the 7th - 10th century Middle East. www.spectator.co.uk/features/9367502/how-islamic-state-commanders-milk-their-hostages-for-every-penny/
